Deutsche Presse-Agentur, October 15, 2006
More than 150 people were admitted to hospitals after they complained of a burning sensation in their eyes, severe breathing problems and nausea, district official Arun Bhat was quoted as saying.
He said most of the patients had been sent to a hospital in Bhopal and their condition was stable.
More than 3,500 people died in Bhopal city in 1984 after a gas leak from an Union Carbide pesticide plant.
Bhat said the situation in Raisen was not serious and the patients were expected to return home in a day or two.
A team of the state's pollution board had inspected factories near the villages to try and identify the source of the leak, he said.
