How to make a dead man warm

However well you know and love chai (Indian tea), the version brewed in Bhopal may be a new experience, for the Bhopalis like to add a little pinch of salt to their tea. Not instead of sugar, but as well as.

First, here is the chai brewed by those living on Union Carbide's 7¢ a day:

Ingredients

pinch of tea dust
sugar

Method:

Boil water, add tea dust and sugar.

If you have the necessary spices you can make this fine Resurrection Chai which is sold up at Pir Gate, two rupees a cup.

Ingredients

milk
salt
cardamom
black pepper
ginger
cinnamon
a clove
sugar or jaggery (goor)
tea leaves

Method:

Put the milk in a pan and add water, spices, salt jaggery and tea leaves. Keep on the simmer for as long as people want more.

The old grannies say it will make a dead man warm.
