1. Name: Asraaf Bi. 2. Age: 60 years. 3. Gas affected or contaminated water affected (details): I suffer from the contaminated water. 4. Address: At the time of the gas leak I was not in Bhopal, I used to live in Ganj Basoda then. I came to Bhopal about 16 years back. Now I live at House No. 615 Kalyan Nagar, Vidisha Road, Bhopal. 5. Occupation: I do not do any work. Sometimes I go and sell some vegetables. My younger son lives with me who works as a casual labourer. He earns about Rs. 50/- to 60/- per day. 6. Life worries (indebtedness, illness in the family, livelihood): My younger son suffers from stomach ailments, which is due to the contaminated water. I had to take a loan of Rs. 20000.00 for his treatment. I still have to pay the money back. Now my son is responding to the treatment and has started working. 7. Income and sources of income: from the vegetables I sell I earn about Rs. 10.00 to 15.00 per day. My son also, whenever possible earns about Rs. 50.00 to 60.00 per day. But this is not regular. 8. Compensation amount and how was it utilized: I have not received any compensation. 9. Deaths of family members, relatives, friends, neighbours, cause of death, date of death: my husband died in July 2005. He had severe swelling on his body. He was admitted to the hospital in DIG Bunglow and was there for about 8 days. I had arranged for some little money, but he died without responding to the treatment. I do not know what caused his swelling. These had started about two months prior to his death. The doctors said that his lungs were not functioning. 10. Illness due to disaster: Since I was not in Bhopal at the time of the gas leak, I do not suffer any illness on that account. Whatever problem I have is due to the use of contaminated water. 11. Current Illness (due to gas exposure or exposure to contaminated water): I suffer from breathlessness and giddiness. Sometimes I get blisters on my skin. At times my eyes run and then I am not able to see anything. My grandson who lives with me also suffers from the effect of the water. He is very weak and barely manages to stand and walk. He also suffers from giddiness and breathlessness. 12. Association with organizations: I go to rallies organized by various people like Rachna and Shahid. 13. Participation in rallies, demonstrations, direct actions, fasts, how many, when was the first time, where was it Bhopal and elsewhere: I have gone for demonstration at the court on 6th February 2006 when the officials from Carbide had come to court. But I have participated in rallies held in Bhopal. I do not remember the first time I took part in a rally but it was very far back. 14. Arrests, jail terms, beatings, legal suits: I have not been arrested or beaten by the police. 15. Activities (other than participating in protests) for improvement of the condition of survivors: No. 16. Expectations from the padyatra: We will put our demands before the government and hope some relief is forthcoming. I hope that we start getting clean drinking water and some avenues of employment be provided. 17. Worries if any: I am not at all worried. If death has to come it can come any time.
