"Shortly
after the incident, the Wall Street Journal's Barry Neuman wrote that
Indians don't expect compensation for lives lost in the Bhopal poisonous

"The
state of the Union Carbide plant is a disgrace. When the company finally
left the city in 1999, it left behind around 5,000 tonnes of process
and waste chemicals - toxins that have leached into the soil and water
in and around the factory."

2002 - September
30 September - Central
Chronicle, Bhopal "Gas Tragedy: The worst is not yet over"
The Central Chronicle casts its eye over our website and its visitors
- yes the biggest single user last month was...Dow Chemical - and speculates
as to why organisations like the US military are interested in Bhopal.
"It is no secret that the methyl-iso-cyanate gas that leaked from
the UCIL's pesticide formulation plant has always interested the merchants
of chemical warfare. The NGO's fighting the cause of Bhopal, also describe
their campaign as the fight against toxic terror . . . The threat of toxic
terror seems to have made the West come alive to the ground realities
that prevail. Or else, they would not be wasting their time on the Bhopal
site. After all it is not the usual porn stuff that engages the casual
net surfer." Thank you, Central Chronicle, for those kind
words.

News "Indian eunuchs gather in Bhopal"
30 September - Times

23 September - Central
Chronicle, Bhopal "Portugal court rules out Abu's deportation"
Unfazed by the development, CBI is going ahead with its decision to send
a team to Lisbon to bring Salem back to India and is putting together
evidence to make out a strong case for his extradition to the Portugese
authorities. Nice to see the CBI so zealous about carrying out its
duties. When can we expect to see a CBI team heading for the USA to bring
Warren Anderson and the absconding Dow-Carbide executives to justice?
The CBI is speedy too, in the case of Abu Salem. They've had 11 years
so far to put together evidence to make a strong case for the extradition
of Anderson and Co. May we expect some action soon?
22 September - Central
Chronicle, Bhopal "India seeks Abu Salem's deportation"
(Well it didn't take them long. Abu Salem, as reported by us, was only
discovered in Lisbon on Wednesday. Warren Anderson was discovered three
weeks ago in NY, and action was promised, but unaccountably has failed
to materialise. Warrants
have been issued in Bhopal. When you know where Abu Salem was arrested
and for what, the irony multiplies and the same politicians are involved
in both decisions. The
reason given for the swittness of this action -- more irony --the urging
of the US government.)

en permanence à une indifférence parfois criminelle. Elle
cite notamment l'hôpital de Bhopal qui a remis à certaines
personnes souffrant de séquelles des médicaments périmés.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam upon his arrival in Bhopal and present the President's
portrait to him drawn with his blood. Dr Yadav has been campaigning for
the world peace for the last eight years. He has prepared portraits of
many national and international celebrities with his blood and sought
