Poisoned people around the world
The pump has a red warning painted on, because the water is poisoned by chemicals leaking from the factory of Dow's subsidiary Union Carbide. The water can cause illness, cancers and birth-defects, but this small child cannot read. And in any case there's nowhere to get clean water as all the local wells and hand-pumps are contaminated. And Dow refuses to clean up.

To the Organisers of Live Earth
We, undersigned, are event organisers, participants and supporters of Live Earth, and passionately believe in the cause of clean water for every person on earth.
We are perplexed and offended by the involvement of Dow Chemical with Live Earth. Dow is a corporation which has probably done more than other to contaminate and poison water, causing death, sickness and birth defects all over the world.
While our support for Live Earth does not waver, and it
is now too late to get rid of Dow Chemical for 2010, there are things we
can do.
We therefore call on you
a) to dissociate Live Earth from Dow as soon as possible
b) ask Dow Chemical to fulfil its legal liabilities in Bhopal and clean up its contamination
c) insist that Dow Chemical provides clean water to communities where its groundwater contamination is causing illness
