VK Jain remanded to 15 days judicial custody

BHOPAL MARCH 1: Former chairman of Madhya pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) VK Jain who was arrested on February 17 following Lokayukta raids at his premises, was reproduced before a district court on Thursday and sent on 15 days' judicial remand.

Jain was produced in the court of additional district and sessions judge Ms Radha Sonkar. The Lokayukta police requested the court to send the accused to judicial remand till march 15. The application was accepted and Jain was sent on judicial remand.

As special judge Jagdish Baheti was on leave, bail application of Jain will be resented on Friday in the court of special judge.

Meanwhile, different teams of Lokayukta police which were sent to Mumbai, Indore, Jabalpur and Katni for further investigation of Jain's assets have returned. New assets including shares and some fixed deposit receipts worth nearly Rs 20 lakh were found in Indore.

VK Jain hails from Jabalpur where he possesses a huge parental house. During his service period he was posted at Indore where he constructed two houses and purchased two flats. His elder son Prashant is a mechanical engineer and working in a private company in Indore.

Assets which were found to be Jain's in Jabalpur and Mumbai are to be verified during his interrogation. More houses and vehicles used by Jain's family members have come to light. After verification, police will include all the assets in the account of Jain.
