VK Jain's bail plea rejected

BHOPAL MARCH 5: The special court of Bahati once again rejected the bail application of MP Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) VK Jain accused of accumulating disproportionate wealth to his known source of private income. Jain who was previously sent on judicial remand till march 15, filed an appeal for bail but the plea was rejected.

Public prosecutor, JS Chauhan convinced the court that pending investigations against the accused might be adversely affected if the accused was granted bail.

The defence council NC Jain who has been pleading for the accused, was accompanied by another senior advocate Radhelal Gupta hailing from Jabalpur.

The defence councils tried to secure bail of their client on health grounds and claimed that the health of their client was deteriorating due to shock received through false allegations.

The Government Pleader stressed that the Lok Ayukta Special Establishment police had some new evidences against the accused and they were investigating on the same. The bail of the accused was likely to hinder further investigations.

It may be mentioned that the Lok Ayukta police raided the office and residences of the MPPCB chairman VK Jain on February 17.

Evidences of disproportionate property to earnings was discovered by the officials and Jain was arrested the following day. He was taken on a single day Judicial remand which was further extended till March 15. Today the accused was presented before the Special Judge court and the bail application was rejected.

Jain faces charges of gross irregularities and misuse of official capacity.
