Dow Releases Update to Public Report 1999, May 22, 2000

MIDLAND, MI, May 19 (From News Services) – Dow Chemical Co. released its Public Report Update 2000, a progress report on the company's commitment to achieve a truly sustainable business through the integration of the "triple bottom line" of economic, environmental and social responsibility.

The Report states that Dow has completed two of the eight items on its "To Do" list of steps included in the original Public Report 1999. They are: Establishing a set of principles in the areas of product stewardship; stakeholder partnerships and dialogue, eco-efficiency, eco-system integrity, local versus Dow standards, equity and quality of life, employee and public outreach, and transparency. Completing a set of global perception surveys designed to measure perceptions of Dow in communities where it operates and to help the company become an even better neighbor.

The Update also reports on the company's financial performance in 1999, as well as the decline in workplace injuries and incidents.
