On the occasion of the 37th Anniversary of the Union Carbide disaster, leaders of four survivors’ organizations in Bhopal condemned The Dow Chemical Company, USA for its systematic discrimination against survivors of the gas disaster and victims of groundwater contamination.

भोपाल में यूनियन कार्बाइड हादसे की 37वीं बरसी के अवसर पर आयोजित एक पत्रकार वार्ता में गैस पीड़ित संगठनों के नेताओं ने राज्य और केंद्र सरकारों द्वारा 37 साल बाद भी पीड़ितों को इंसाफ और इज्जत की जिंदगी मुहैया ना करा पाने की कड़ी निंदा की | संगठनों ने राज्य और केंद्र सरकार पर केंद्रित अपनी 37 दिवसीय मुहिम ’37 साल – 37सवाल’ पर भी जानकारी साझा की |

Addressing a Press Conference held on the occasion of the 37th Anniversary of the Union Carbide disaster in Bhopal, leaders of survivors’ organizations condemned the state and central governments for denying justice and a life of dignity to the survivors. The organizations also shared information on their just concluded 37 day campaign: “37 Years – 37 Questions” directed at the state and central governments.

यूनियन कार्बाइड के जहरों से पीड़ित माता पिताओ के जन्मजात विकृति के साथ पैदा हो रहे बच्चों ने आज प्रधानमन्त्री और मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री से आग्रह किया की यूनियन कार्बाइड/डाव केमिकल से उनके स्वास्थ्य को पहुंची क्षति के कानूनी अधिकार दिलाए | बच्चों ने “हम होंगें कामयाब” के गीत इस आशा से गाए कि उनकी सालों पुरानी मांगों को सुना जाए ताकि उन्हें इज्जत की जिंदगी मिल सके | गैस पीड़ितों को जन्मे बच्चों में स्वास्थ्य को पहुंची क्षति के वैज्ञानिक सबूत, न्यायिक स्वीकृति और कानूनी सिद्धांतों के समर्थन होने के बावजूद भी केंद्र और राज्य सरकार, इस बात को नजरअंदाज क्यों कर रही है, पूछती है भोपाल गैस पीड़ित महिला स्टेशनरी कर्मचारी संघ की रशीदा बी |

Today children of gas exposed parents being born with physical and mental development disorders and birth defects sang songs urging the Prime Minister & Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh to ensure their legal rights for compensation from Union Carbide/Dow Chemical. Despite having scientific evidence, judicial acknowledgement and the backing of legal principle that children born to gas affected parents have suffered health damages as a result of exposure to their parent, the govt at state and centre continue to look the other way, said Rashida Bee, President Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Stationary Karmchari Sangh.
