The City Council of Bloomington heralded the 25th anniversary of the Bhopal Gas tragedy by passing “Resolution 09-21 Recognizing the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of the Bhopal Disaster and Calling for a Report on Extremely Hazardous Substances Previously Released into the Local Environment” on the evening of Dec 2, 2009, with the support of the Association for India’s Development. The resolution was introduced by Stephen Volan and co-sponsored by Dave Rollo.
City of Cambridge. Resolution passed by the City Council. Sept. 25th 2006. Resolved to vote it shares in favor of Bhopal resolution, refrain from purchase of Dow bonds, and audit of Dow products purchased and substitute where possible.
The Associated Students of University of California Berkeley passed a resolution calling upon the Chancellor of UC Berkeley to write a public letter to Dow Chemical asking it to accept liability for the disaster and requesting the university to sell Dow stocks and reject all donations from Dow.
The City of Berkeley today passed a resolution supporting justice for survivors of the Bhopal gas disaster on its 25th anniversary. In it, the city resolved to write a public letter to the Dow Chemical Company asking it to accept liability for the disaster and divest from Dow Chemical Company shares till such a time. In addition, proclaimed December 3, 2009 as Berkeley Day of Remembrance for Victims of Industrial Pollution in Bhopal.
