Five organizations of the survivors of the Union Carbide disaster today addressed a press conference on the recently published scientific study on the health impact of the disaster on children who were in the wombs of their mothers when they inhaled the poisonous gas.

Today children of gas exposed parents being born with physical and mental development disorders and birth defects sang songs urging the Prime Minister & Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh to ensure their legal rights for compensation from Union Carbide/Dow Chemical. Despite having scientific evidence, judicial acknowledgement and the backing of legal principle that children born to gas affected parents have suffered health damages as a result of exposure to their parent, the govt at state and centre continue to look the other way, said Rashida Bee, President Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Stationary Karmchari Sangh.

Members of Children Against Dow-Carbide took out a rally in Bhopal to express solidarity with children of Jagatsinghpur, Odisha that are fighting against South Korean steal company POSCO.
The children also handed a posco-memorandum to governorto the governor in which they pointed out that struggle against POSCO was for 22,000 families in villages like Dhinkia, Nuagaon and Gadkuajang who would be rendered homeless and jobless because of the project.
The memo further said that Odisha government and its police were going all out for execution of the project. Amid mounting police atrocities against people protesting against the project, struggle of the children was a source of inspiration for all.
The children also demanded that POSCO project be immediately disbanded.
