Ghost of Bhopal spoils Dow’s feast

A Dow Chemical banquet at Lake Jackson, Texas, was attended last night by broom and banner wielding volunteers of the ICJB, who handed out copies of the Bhopal Chief Magistrate’s order summoning Dow Chemical US to appear in the criminal trial in Bhopal.

Lake Jackson police turned out in force to protect the Dow people against the unwelcome guests, but the ICJB’s Diane, Kinnu and Sherry gave interviews to local radio stations and served the Chief Magistrate’s order on arriving Dow attendees, including a well-dressed woman who came up to the banner (which proclaimed that Dow is Responsible for Bhopal) and asked “What is B-H-O-P-A-L?”

Dow will never be allowed to forget what Bhopal is.

Blood hath been shed ere now, i’ the olden time,
Ere human statute purged the gentle weal;

Too terrible for the ear: the times have been,
That, when the brains were out, the man would die,
And there an end; but now they rise again,
With twenty mortal murders on their crowns,
And push us from our stools: this is more strange
Than such a murder is.

You delivered soil and water.” Yea verily. The long arm of the ICJB reacheth out even unto the furthest ends of Dow’s realm of chemical despair.
