Junior doctors of Bhopal, Rewa medical colleges strike work

Bhopal: Junior doctors of Bhopal and Rewa medical colleges in Madhya Prdesh struck work today in protest against the Centre’s proposed quota for OBCs in institutes of higher education.
“Junior doctors in Bhopal and Rewa did not attend the OPD, wards and emergency services in protest against reservation,” Madhya Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (JDA) President Hemant Verma told PTI.
JDA also submitted a memorandum to Governor Balram Jakhar, demanding that constitutional norms be upheld while setting criteria for quotas for reserved category members.
If the quota has to be hiked, the benefit of reservation should not be extended to the “creamy layer”, he said.
Claiming that JDA will continue the protest, Verma said junior doctors in medical colleges of Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior will also join the agitation from tomorrow.
