RANCHI: Medha Patkar, firebrand leader of the Narmada Bachao Andolan is now gearing up to set foot in Jharkhand, spelling more trouble for the Arjun Munda government.
Patkar has called for a violent protest in case the government has not yet come out with a proper rehabilitation policy for people who will be displaced once the government acquired land for a series of proposed investments in the state.
For this, Patkar herself will be coming to Jharkhand in October this year when anti-displacement activists in the country would congregate here, she told leaders of the Jharkhand Janadhikar Party (JJP) who met her in New Delhi recently.
According to Ratan Tirkey of the JJP, Patkar exhorted the state leaders to come together and fight unitedly for the cause of displaced people.
She also urged the JJP leaders to register a complaint with the Union ministry of tribal affairs against the Munda government for displacing tribals from their land and also move the ministry of environment which had helped her in her cause for a long time.
The Magasaysay award winner advised the Jharkhand leaders that they should continue to hold dialogues with the government simultaneously which could pave the way for rehabilitation of the displaced.
