Bhopal: Four people, including a minor girl, who needed ventilatory support reportedly died at the Hamidia Hospital here during an hour-long power cut. A probe was launched following reports of the deaths, Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi said over the phone from Indore.
The deaths occurred during a power cut on Saturday night, reportedly due to a delay of nearly an hour in starting standby generators, the sources said. The dead included three women—one with a head injury, another with a critical liver infection and the third one with a respiratory ailment—who needed ventilatory support, the sources said.
A minor girl brought to the emergency ward during the power cut also succumbed allegedly due to lack of medical attention. The principal secretary of the health department has been asked to investigate the matter and submit a report at the earliest, Vishnoi said.
